LoL roster changes

It's that time of year again: The annual musical chairs for all major regional League of Legends leagues are already well underway after the excitement of the LoL World Championship. As we approach the holiday season, that can only mean one thing: the chaos has officially begun, with player transfers already in full swing.

With the LCS/CBLOL merger into the all-new league, LTA, and the creation of the LCP, many great players of respected tenure and skills are being left teamless with free agency. It's basically open season on who gets to poach them.

If you're confused about next year's roster changes and want to know where your favorite players are headed, don't worry! This article will shed some light on the situation, featuring all the current roster changes for the main 2025 LoL regional leagues: LCK, LPL, LTA, LEC, and LCP. We'll update this article every few days with new information, so watch this space!

Please note that any players in bold with an asterisk indicate a tentative transfer or rumored roster change that hasn't yet been officially confirmed. If a space in a table is left blank, there are no rumors surrounding that position/roster change. We have not included the "Head Coach," "Assistant Coach," "Positional Coach," or any other team staffing or contract changes.

LCK Roster Changes

The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) has continued to establish itself as the dominant region in the League of Legends professional ecosystem, with their top four teams all making it into the Swiss Stage at LoL Worlds 2024. After a rocky 2024 season, T1 rose like a phoenix from the ashes in an exciting 3:2 clutch against LPL team Bilibili Gaming.

At the time of writing, there are a few empty and unconfirmed spots at teams like Kwangdong Freecs and DRX. Instead of looking for fresh talent, reigning world champions T1 will re-sign their complete existing roster, with Faker leading the charge once again.

Watch this space, as the off-season is only just beginning, and there's plenty of time between now and when the next season begins.

LPL Roster Changes

The excitement around the League of Legends Pro League is heating up as entire rosters are being rebuilt from the ground up. Recent LPL leaks have revealed that EDward Gaming is currently leaving its entire roster open as they aim to make it to Worlds 2025.

Meanwhile, Top Esports will revolve their entire new roster around their two central carries: JackeyLove and Creme. Other teams are reportedly not spending as much on their rosters.

With 17 teams in the LPL, there's a lot of ground to cover so let's look at what the 2025 LPL roster changes are looking like so far.

LCS Roster Changes (Now LTA North)

The new LTA merger has now officially been confirmed by Riot Games, creating two brand-new Americas leagues, with the League of Legends Champions Series (LCS) being dissolved completely in favor of the LTA North and LTA South teams. This means some well-known teams have not survived the transition, like Immortals and NRG, with many talented players scrambling to find seats in time for 2025.

LEC Roster Changes

After yet another year of missing out on qualifying for the final LoL Worlds Knockout Stages, the League of Legends European Championship, or LEC, is looking to be in a slump, with many teams and their players on the same trajectory as last year with next to no progression.

However, a new year always means a fresh start, as many teams are already locking in. There are already changes across the board in the LEC camp, with significant format changes coming in 2025. Rogue has left themselves open with no confirmed roster yet, while MAD Lions KOI are rebranding to just "KOI."

What other roster changes are afoot? Let's take a look.

LCP Roster Changes

The League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) will be introduced in 2025 as one of five major regional leagues in the LoL esports ecosystem. The LCP will usher in a new era of esports in the Asia-Pacific region as the sole route for competitive teams to qualify for global events next year. Below the LCP will be the PCS, VCS, and JLJ domestic leagues as they compete for guest spots.

The creation of the LCP allows the talent in Asia-Pacific to shine on the international stage while opening the door for the ambitions of the teams and players in the region.
